Two disruptive companies, one powerful partnership

We at Brex and Navan have known each other for many years. Founded in 2017 and 2015, we both enjoyed quick success and established ourselves as leaders in our fields, building leading product suites around financial services, spend management, and travel. Today, we are announcing a groundbreaking collaboration that delivers our best-in-class products — global corporate cards and travel management — for enterprise companies. Introducing BrexPay for Navan.

Our shared vision: start with the customer

Brex and Navan are united in helping businesses of all sizes operate more efficiently — Navan by powering in-person connections, and Brex by making every dollar count. While we serve a range of customers, we recognised a unique — and unresolved — challenge for enterprise customers around payments and travel. In the past two years, hundreds of our enterprise customers approached us, frustrated by the gaps in the way legacy players like Amex and Concur work together.

Connecting our infrastructures directly to put the customer first

Previously, enterprises with a travel management programme connected their legacy corporate cards to their travel portal with a “lodge card” or “central travel card.” However, these legacy cards worked completely siloed from the travel platform and, thereafter, the customer’s ERP, leading to massive reconciliation and reporting issues that required hundreds of hours of manual reconciliation work to match trips, card charges and proper accounting coding — all made worse by the global nature of travel payments. The old model presented a subpar customer experience.

Brex spent eight years building our own financial infrastructure directly into Mastercard — the only fintech in the US that doesn’t use a processing intermediary. Navan did the same for corporate travel — building the entire travel infrastructure from the ground up. So we went back to first principles. We took Brex’s global payment infrastructure and Navan’s global travel platform to create a world-class travel payments experience. Together, our product and engineering teams built a deeply integrated global payment product that solves the most significant pain points in enterprise travel management: 100% reconciliation of every travel booking made on Navan with local currency payments across 50+ countries.

BrexPay for Navan: a new gold standard for corporate travel

Enter BrexPay for Navan. A seamless integration that directly embeds Brex cards into Navan’s travel management software. Customers can now leverage Brex and Navan to achieve 100% automated travel payment reconciliation on bookings made through Navan. This means receiving a perfect report at the end of the month, where every booking is linked to a traveller and a trip with zero manual effort, thanks to a per-booking virtual card number. Through the direct integration, customers can also instantly activate local currency cards for all their global subsidiaries within one card programme, saving countless hours in onboarding and underwriting, besides avoiding all FX fees.

And this is just the beginning. With our joint infrastructure, customers will be able to enforce Navan expense policies on Brex cards, ship and manage Brex cards from Navan’s interface, and navigate between the products seamlessly. By building together, we are tackling some of the thorniest challenges in global travel that have never been solved before.
